Antony, who was barely 12 years old at the time, suffered from a condition that clearly required treatment as soon as possible because it could have become fatal.

He suffered from kyphoscoliosis in the thoracic-lumbar region. His operation required an anterior-posterior approach with posterior instrumentation.

The surgery took many hours but the difference in curvature of his spine can be appreciated in his x-rays. He was very happy after his surgery and writes:

"I am grateful to Butterfly Foundation and Geraldine for having helped me overcome my past fear since I had lost all hope of someday being someone. I am thankful to the doctors that were with us since they were always there during our recuperation giving us support. I hope that they will receive the support that they need to continue to help others like me."

Since the surgery, Antony has felt more confident in himself and talks about pursuing his studies.
